Roughly 150 people needed. Volunteers will greet people as they pull up and direct them to check-in. Volunteers may also help carry items into res halls if family requests OR may be asked to watch items on curb as family carries things to room in several trips.

5 volunteers needed for each of the following shifts:

• 9am – 11am
• 11am – 1pm
• 1pm – 3pm

Arrive 10 minutes before shift.

Volunteers will arrive at the AMU 3rd floor ballrooms for specific position instructions and then will be positioned in and around the AMU to aid with traffic flow and wayfinding.

New commuter students and their families are invited to dinner and a program where they get to know their peers and learn about campus resources. Staff and faculty are welcome to attend (no need to sign-up; just show up). There will be an opportunity to introduce yourself to new students.

Convocation is the formal welcome to the class of 2028. Volunteers are needed for wayfinding to the Al McGuire Center Concourse & Hospitality, welcoming students and families, greeting them as they come into the Al and directing them to seating.

The Center for Engagement and Inclusion (CEI) of the Office of inclusion and Belonging (OIB) will host 5 multicultural welcome events in rooms throughout the Alumni Memorial Union. An opportunity for new and returning students to connect over food and build community in a relaxed atmosphere. These events seek to foster a sense of belonging for our incoming and returning students. Students can attend multiple welcome events during the 2-3:30 p.m. time. These events are drop in style events for students to come and go as their schedules allow during New Student Orientation.

An opening community event for the incoming and returning students, staff, and faculty who are within the LGBTQ+ Communities, or are Advocates for the LGBTQ+ communities to gather and create connections.

Event Operations Volunteer: 2 Folx

• Volunteer opportunities of this kind would encompass event check-in support, event set-up, and teardown support.

Community Building & Engagement Volunteer: 3 Folx

• Volunteer opportunities of this kind would encompass supporting activity facilitation and serve as a part of the welcome crew that greets event participants and creates new connections.

This is an event where Milwaukee and Wisconsin-wide LGBTQ+ Support Service providers will be featured on campus and able to share their services with ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵstudents (undergraduate, graduate, and professional) .
