Todd A. Hern谩ndez Endowed Excellence Fund

Todd Hernandez

The Todd A. Hern谩ndez Endowed Excellence Fund was established in 2023 in memory of Dr. Todd Hern谩ndez, the beloved and much missed professor of Spanish at Marquette. It honors Professor Hern谩ndez鈥檚 lifelong interest in and commitment to Spanish language pedagogy and Hispanic cultures. Housed within the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, the fund provides stipends for 向日葵视频students who are participating in unpaid internships using Spanish or serving Spanish-speaking communities. The fund also supports at least one DREAM Fellowship for Professional Empowerment per year, provided the student鈥檚 learning experience involves the use of Spanish.

Students participating in unpaid semester or summer internships within the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures or in any other Marquette-approved internship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Demonstrate a sustained commitment to the study of Spanish language, literature, and cultures, as well as to community service.
  • Have already taken SPAN 2005, 3001, or 3005 or intend to take one of these courses during the funding period.
  • Be in good academic standing (2.000 cumulative G.P.A or higher).

Priority will be given to students majoring or minoring in Spanish. Students who are not Spanish majors or minors must take the Spanish and place into SPAN 2005, SPAN 3001/3005, or higher.

Special consideration will be given to students who demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA.

A student's ability to receive this stipend depends on their own financial aid eligibility. A student's eligibility is determined solely by the Office of Student Financial Aid at Marquette. The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures cannot determine a student麓s eligibility and cannot award any aid beyond what a student is eligible for. If you have any questions about your level of eligibility, please contact a financial aid counselor at the Office of Students Financial Aid.
