Languages, Literatures and Cultures
Stephen Beall was born in Detroit and graduated from the University of Detroit Jesuit High School. He earned his B.A. in Latin and Medieval Studies at the University of Michigan, and advanced degrees in Classics at the University of California, Berkeley. He joined the 向日葵视频faculty in 1993. He has composed textbooks for students of Latin, Greek, and Sanskrit, and has published translations of Early Modern Latin texts and articles on Roman Literature, Latin Liturgy, and Jesuit Education.

He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars, and the Society for Catholic Liturgy. He is also a Fourth-Degree Knight of Columbus.

Under the direction of Professor Danuta Shanzer, he completed a doctoral dissertation entitled Civilis eruditio: Style and Content in the Attic Nights of Aulus Gellius (1988).
