Clinical and Research Tools

PubMed is a service of the National Library of Medicine that includes more than 15 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to the 1950s. PubMed includes links to full-text articles and other related resources.

The University of Michigan Medical School developed the Visible Human image and knowledge data objects derived from arbitrary cut planes of full resolution, as well as datasets derived using image/knowledge fusion techniques.

The purpose of this program is to help you generate a differential diagnosis for radiographic lesions of the jaws. It will evaluate information you provide and compare it to data from more than150 of the most common lesions manifested in the maxilla or mandible.

This government-run site provides regularly updated information about federally and privately supported clinical research in human volunteers. It also gives you information about a trial's purpose, who may participate, locations and phone numbers for more details.

Dental Directories and Resources

Maintained by the University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences Library System, this site offers a wide variety of links to dental sites and online directories of interest to dentists and dental-related practitioners.

Journals and Publications

This site provides extensive access to a wide variety of resource materials, including searchable literature databases, dental calculators, radiation calculations, and laboratory diagnostics and protocols.

The Journal of Dental Research is dedicated to the dissemination of new knowledge and information on all sciences relevant to dentistry and to the oral cavity and associated structures in health and disease. Please note that these articles are accessible only from the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ network.

This site is a network of interrelated biomedical journals, which is owned and administered by Priory Lodge Education Ltd. It offers access to an extensive archive of dental-related papers and articles.

CRA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving dentists by evaluating dental materials, devices, and concepts for efficacy and clinical usefulness. Findings are reported as rapidly as possible in written and oral forms, including the monthly CRA newsletter.

Oral Health Issues

This subsection of the CDC's oral health website offers background information on fluoride, as well as frequently asked questions, a fact sheet, the surgeon general’s statement on fluoride use and links to articles about water fluoridation.

Maintained by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, this page provides a comprehensive historical overview of how dental science discovered — and ultimately proved to the world - that fluoride prevents tooth decay.

Organizations

The mission of the American Dental Education Association is to lead individuals and institutions of the dental education community to address contemporary issues influencing education, research, and the delivery of oral health care for the improvement of the health of the public.

The mission of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research is to improve oral, dental and craniofacial health through research, research training and the dissemination of health information.

The ADA is the professional association of dentists committed to the public's oral health, ethics, science and professional advancement. The organization's website provides a wealth of information, including advocacy tools, education resources and research materials.

The IADR/AADR are involved in advancing research and increasing knowledge for the improvement of oral health worldwide.

 

The Society of Clinical Research Associates Inc. is a nonprofit professional organization dedicated to the continuing education and development of clinical research professionals.

The AACD website is filled with information for members, consumers and the media. Features of the site include a members-only section, information about national programs and referral services, registration for the Annual Scientific Session, and an archive of past AACD materials.

Dentistry.com is a privately operated organization that provides information-based resources, catering to dental professionals and consumers. Services for dental practitioners include free online listings, premier email accounts and newsletters/articles. Consumers receive access to the largest search engine of dental professionals and products, as well as opportunities to contact featured dentistry.com specialists through an online consultation page.
