The Executive MBA Experience

Today鈥檚 leaders need to be successful in motivating people, diagnosing problems, appreciating cultural perspectives, and leading teams to effective solutions.  The 向日葵视频Executive MBA curriculum emphasizes collaborative, interactive learning, with applied experiences to give students the tools to put those ideas into practice.

The 向日葵视频Executive MBA offers a premium experience for professionals looking for the opportunity to complete their graduate degree with other seasoned leaders in an accelerated format. Several EMBA experiences are highlighted below.

Campus Immersions

Program dinnerThe Executive MBA program begins with a five-day immersion week within mid-August.  The immersion week centers around teamwork and includes the program鈥檚 Teams and Performance course as well as an integrative team experience.  Students begin their fall courses within the first immersion week.  The second immersion is a three-day program offered just prior to the final semester.  Students drive into topics that will be covered in the last term and work closely with classmates to transform information into knowledge.  Within both immersions, classes meet from 7:45 a.m. 鈥 5 p.m. Students have the option of staying in the hotel during immersion week. The cost of the hotel is included in tuition.

The 向日葵视频Executive MBA program is offered through a cohort model to offer opportunities for teamwork and for classmates to learn from and with each other.  Teams of four to six classmates are strategically formed to include a wide range of talents within each team.  Each team member brings a unique perspective, and EMBA faculty and classmates offer a supportive network as students apply their leadership, face new challenges, and break through to new heights.

Social Responsibility and Community Engagement

Marquette鈥檚 location in the heart of Milwaukee provides meaningful opportunities for applying classroom theory into tangible action.  In multiple classes, students partner with local corporate and nonprofit leaders to learn from them and contribute to their goals. Recently, students have worked with veterans, helped eliminate lead from water in Milwaukee by partnering with local stakeholders, and worked to advance awareness about childcare issues for corporations and their employees. EMBA students have learned from local leaders like , who leads an ecosystem of for-profit businesses in Sherman Park, about what it takes to be a business leader within - not outside of - a community.

International Trip

The Executive MBA curriculum includes a specialization in international business, supported through a 10-12 day international experience.  The international experience is typically scheduled at the beginning of the summer term (late May or early June) and includes opportunities to learn about and address business opportunities in a new business, cultural, and socioeconomic context. Below: EMBA students visiting Porsche in Germany

Association of Corporate Growth (ACG) Cup Competition

ACG cupWithin the Executive MBA Corporate Finance course, students learn about mergers and acquisitions through the ACG Cup Competition.  EMBA teams first compete within the cohort.  Then, one team represents 向日葵视频in a competition with UW-Milwaukee and UW-Madison held at Northwestern Mutual.  The competition also includes networking with students and over 50 M&A professionals.  Michael Zimmermann, a member of the 2023 winning team shared: 鈥淭he ACG Cup was a transformational experience for me on many levels鈥y team and I entered that competition knowing essentially nothing about M&A and our professor, Dave Bauer, intentionally had taught us nothing about it: the competition WAS the teaching.  It was a completely new way to learn driven by competitive fire and stretched all of us to new levels.鈥

Hooding Ceremony

Hooding ceremonyEMBA students graduate with a program-specific hooding ceremony in December.  Ceremonies include a graduation program and celebratory reception.
