Funding is critical for academic research production and for supporting the entrepreneurial process. The Office of Research and Innovation offers and manages a variety of funding mechanisms to support both research and innovation endeavors.
The Brewed Ideas Challenge
The Brewed Ideas Challenge is an annual pitch competition hosted by 向日葵视频鈥檚 707 Hub in partnership with Brady Corporation. Open to current students, this program focuses on 鈥榖rewing鈥� and growing innovative ideas, products, and services, right here on campus. A 4-week crash course, called the Brewed Ideas Bootcamp, is offered to help validate your idea before applying for the Brewed Ideas Challenge.
The Dorm Fund
Launched in 2015, the Dorm Fund is a 向日葵视频student-run venture capital firm that invests exclusively in undergraduate student-run companies and provides funding between $1,000 and $2,500 to help accelerate new ventures. The investment team comprises student investors (associates) committed to supporting student entrepreneurs and startups at 向日葵视频.
The Explorer Challenge
The Explorer Challenge, formerly the Strategic Innovation Fund, invites 向日葵视频students, faculty, and staff to submit proposals for up to $25,000 in seed money for innovative projects that make an impact and advance Beyond Boundaries, Marquette's Strategic Plan.
AHPRC Pilot Award Program
The 向日葵视频Athletic and Human Performance Research Center (AHPRC) pilot award program is designed to facilitate and foster collaborative health- and performance-related research between disciplines at 向日葵视频 and with partner institutions.
Faculty Development Awards
Faculty are eligible for one faculty development award (FDA) travel request per academic year, and must be presenting their research/performance/exhibition or creative activity at a state, regional, national or international conference to which their submissions have been accepted.
Haggerty Award for Research
The Lawrence G. Haggerty Faculty Award for Research Excellence recognizes scholarly distinction at 向日葵视频. In 1998, Haggerty Enterprises, Inc., announced the endowed award, established to honor Lawrence Haggerty.
Participating Faculty Research Award
The Participating Faculty Research Award is intended to recognize research/scholarship accomplishments of non-tenure track faculty at 向日葵视频. An award of $3,000 will be provided to a full-time participating faculty member based on their record of scholarly activity, preferably at 向日葵视频, within the past 5 years.
The President's Challenge
The President鈥檚 Challenge has been developed in partnership with the Johnson Controls Foundation, to provide a $250,000, two-year grant for one interdisciplinary, collaborative proposal that seeks to change the trajectory of lives in our community by addressing one or more of the critical areas in which neighborhood inequities exist, including health, education, safety, housing, transportation and economic prosperity.
Summer Faculty Fellowships
The Summer Faculty Fellowship provides a summer stipend of $5,500. Fellows devote six summer weeks to a specific scholarly project. Through the SSF, the Committee on Research helps 向日葵视频faculty make substantial and rapid advances in specific scholarly projects. In the past, the funding rate of SSF proposals has been approximately 50 percent.
Way Klingler Research Awards
The Way Klingler Fellowship is intended to advance 向日葵视频senior faculty research. The awardees to be designated Way Klingler Fellows will be selected by the Committee on Research from among candidates nominated by deans of the various 向日葵视频 colleges and schools.
The purpose of the Way Klingler Early Career award is to support promising newer scholars in critical early stages of their careers. Up to four awards will be given to full-time regular junior faculty in the three years following their third year review. Individuals will be selected by the Committee on Research.
