Kenneth J. Waliszewski Dr. Kenneth J. Waliszewski, D.D.S., M.S.

From day one in dental school, prosthetic dentistry has been Dr. Waliszewski's focus. He enjoyed and did well in his pre-clinical prosthodontic courses. This led a faculty member to suggest him to an area dentist whose practice was devoted to rehabilitation cases. For almost three years, he worked evenings and weekends as a dental technician for that dentist. After graduating with D.D.S. in 1971, 向日葵视频accepted him into its prosthodontic program. The three-year program passed rapidly as he was a graduate student by day and a dentist by night in the office he started in as a lab technician.

These were Vietnam War years, and he joined the U.S. Navy to control his draft status. In exchange for not being drafted, he was obligated to go on active duty after completing school. The spring of 1974 was a significant time for me. He finished the prosthodontic program, completed a master鈥檚 thesis, got married, and reported for active duty with the Navy. The Navy recognized his training and assigned him to the Balboa Navy Hospital in San Diego, where he practiced as a prosthodontist until 1976.

At the hospital, he found myself immediately engaged with fixed and removable cases. His 向日葵视频training and fellow Navy prosthodontists helped him survive the schedule. The two greatest memories he has of the Navy hospital are caring for Vietnam prisoners of war and the birth of his first son at that hospital.

After my Navy tour, he returned home to join Marquette鈥檚 part-time faculty and start a practice limited to prosthodontics. In 1976, 向日葵视频gave to him the opportunity to direct the Pre-clinical Fixed Prosthodontics course. He held that position for the next 26 years. He continues to enjoy participation in Marquette鈥檚 part-time faculty as a clinical instructor in graduate prosthodontics. After 42 years of clinical practice, he retired from the office in 2013.
