Scammers will call, send emails or even text messages to obtain your personal and banking information. They will pose as banks, government agencies, phone companies and more.

  • Never send account numbers via text or email
  • Do not open unsolicited attachments, and delete suspicious emails
  • Do not give personal, banking or credit card information over the phone, unless you made the phone call and are positive the phone number is the correct one
  • Lastly do not enter banking or credit card information into a website that you are not sure is genuine. Always look for https:// in the URL to ensure that you are on a secure site.

Credit Card Scams

Scammers will try to obtain your credit card information in various ways; including stealing your card, installing spyware, card skimming devices on ATMs or even impersonating bank representatives.

  • Don鈥檛 let anyone borrow your debit/credit card and never give anyone your PIN.
  • Make sure that you have anti-virus software on your computer and that it is up to date.
  • Don鈥檛 use places without secure Internet connections like libraries and coffee houses when doing online banking.
  • Always check your monthly statements and report discrepancies immediately.
