Senior Director, Veith Institute for Real Estate

David Krill (BusAd ’64) joined the Center for Real Estate at ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ in 2017 as Senior Director. David is responsible for oversight of the endowment fundraising efforts for the Center, as well as delivering strategic advice and direction to the Director of the Center, Andy Hunt. He also serves on the Center for Real Estate Advisory Board, as well as working in an advisory capacity to the REALM (Real Estate Alumni Marquette) Network Board.

Prior to his role as Senior Director, David was an adjunct faculty member in the real estate program at Marquette, leading the capstone Real Estate Cases class for 15 years (from 2002-2017). Dave also served on the search committee in 2001-2002 for the inaugural Robert B. Bell, Sr. Chair in Real Estate at ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ, and continued as a Bell Chair Advisor following the hiring of Dr. Mark Eppli. In 2008 David and his wife Bonnie helped launch the Center for Real Estate through a Founding Member gift, and he joined the Center’s inaugural Advisory Board in 2011.

David retired from a long career in commercial real estate in 2000, where he had held several leadership roles across multiple companies. This included President and CEO of Associated Commercial Mortgage, a wholly owned subsidiary of Associated Bank; Vice President at First Financial Bank (acquired by Associated Bank in 1987); and Vice President of Grootemaat Corporation.

In addition to an illustrious career, Dave held numerous service and leadership positions, and received many awards and accolades. These include:

  • Lifetime Achievement Award, Wisconsin Mortgage Bankers Association (2008)

  • Alumni of the Year, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ High School (2002)
  • Service Award, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ College of Business Administration (1997)
  • President, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ National Alumni Board (1996)
  • Wisconsin Governor’s Award for Contributions to the Mortgage Industry (1995)
  • Distinguished Service Award, Wisconsin Mortgage Bankers Association (1995)
  • Board Chair, West Suburban YMCA (1992)
  • President, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ College of Business Alumni Board (1987)

David received his B.S. in Business Administration from ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ in 1964, majoring in Finance. He also received his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1965, where he spent time learning from the legendary professor (and ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ alumnus) Dr. James Graaskamp. David and his wife Bonnie were married for 48 years prior to her passing in 2014, and they have three children – Brian, Kevin and Keelyn (Arts ‘97) – and five grandchildren. David resides in Port Washington, Wisconsin, and enjoys winters in Florida and spending time with family and friends.
