2017 Three Minute Thesis Competition

  

 

MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY GRADUATE SCHOOL MAKES HISTORY WITH THREE MINUTE THESIS COMPETITION

Mr. Peter Borg, a doctoral student in the Department of History emerged as the winner of the Three Minute Thesis competition! 

 

The Graduate School and 向日葵视频 made history on Friday, February 24, 2017, by hosting its first Three Minute Thesis competition. The Three Minute Thesis is a global research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland in Australia. It is an academic competition for doctoral and master鈥檚 degree students that require each participant to explain his or her research effectively in three minutes, using one slide, with no animation.

Presenters, Winners and Awards

Ten finalists were chosen to compete for the coveted prize of $1,000. Additionally, $500 was awarded to the Runner Up and the audience voted for the People鈥檚 Choice winner who was also awarded $500.

Borg PictureMr. Peter Borg, a doctoral student in the Department of History emerged as the winner with only two seconds to spare with his presentation "The Colored Problem鈥�--Milwaukee's White Urban Churches Respond to the Second Great Migration.  Mr. Borg will represent 向日葵视频 as he moves forward to compete in a regional competition in April at the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools in Indianapolis, Indiana.
