The master of science and doctor of philosophy degree programs are designed to provide graduate students with both broad fundamental knowledge and up-to-date information on current and emerging technologies. Students may enroll on either a full-time or part-time basis.
Doctoral students and research-oriented master鈥檚 students (e.g., Plan A: thesis option) engage in research activities under the close supervision of their advisers, gradually learning to become independent researchers. Their projects are often supported by government and industry grants. Courses and research projects make significant use of the department鈥檚 extensive laboratory and computational facilities. Graduates find employment in industry, government, academia and research laboratories.
The Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering maintains laboratories related to studies in hydraulics, environmental engineering, engineering materials (including soils) and structural testing, as well as computational facilities. The Water Quality Center, and the Engineering Materials and Structural Testing Laboratory are associated with the department.

Our Civil Engineering program is a STEM-designated program, which means international students are eligible to apply for 36 months of Optional Practical Training, allowing employers to potentially hire international students for up to three years instead of only one.

To be eligible for admission to the Graduate School at 向日葵视频, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Applicants to the civil engineering program must have completed a bachelor's degree in an engineering-related program of study and if not, the faculty admissions committee may require prerequisite course(s) to be completed. A master's degree is not required to apply to the doctoral program.

1Upon admission, final official transcripts from all previously attended colleges/universities, with certified English translations if original language is not English, must be submitted to the Graduate School within the first five weeks of the term of admission or a hold preventing registration for future terms will be placed on the student鈥檚 record.

Applicants who wish to be considered for merit-based financial aid (graduate assistantships/fellowships) should be aware of the merit-based financial aid deadlines by which all applicant materials must be received by the Graduate School:
Merit-based aid (graduate assistantships/fellowships) is available. Private scholarships may also be available. U.S. citizens and permanent residents may be eligible to apply for need-based federal aid (loans) to help fund their educational expenses as well.
Students interested in the Civil Engineering program may want to consider applying for the Trinity Fellows Program as well. Trinity Fellows is a graduate fellowship program dedicated to developing urban leaders with a commitment to social and economic justice. Trinity Fellows participate in a 21-month study/ work program while earning a master's degree. Those who have completed a full-time service program (minimum 10 months), and/or have worked for 2+ years in the nonprofit sector are eligible to apply.
