ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ offers a number of resources to help you maintain good physical health. The resources range from a solid, comprehensive health insurance program to a variety of resources throughout the campus. Below you’ll read about the many programs available to you.
ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ offers two medical plan options, dental insurance, and vision coverage to best fit your needs. You can read about all of them in my more detail on the Employee Benefits website.
Additionally, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵoffers a wellness program called My Wellness. Access the to learn about this comprehensive wellness program that allows employees to earn rewards for a variety of wellness activities. Sync your fitness tracker to make it easier to upload your activity.

The Employee Wellness Center in Coughlin Hall reopened on February 1, 2024. The Employee Wellness Center is a free, dedicated wellness space exclusive to ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵfaculty and staff. The facility is open Monday – Friday, 7 am – 7 pm. Faculty and staff will need to register for the Employee Wellness Center membership through the .

Indoor recreation facilities at ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ include the new Wellness + Helfaer Recreation center and the Rec Plex. The recreation facilities provide a variety of group fitness classes, instructional programs and intramural sports in which employees may participate. Fitness and wellness services including fitness assessments, personal training, and massage therapy are also offered.
Campus Recreation Membership and Group Fitness Classes
A Campus Recreation membership is an all-access pass to the Campus Rec facilities and the on-site group fitness classes. With this pass you can attend as many classes as you want throughout the week.
All classes are open to students, staff/faculty (members and non-members), as well as our community members.
New memberships should be purchased in person at the Wellness + Helfaer Recreation center or Rec Plex. Payments are taken at the Rec Center or Rec Plex, or the payment can be sent directly to Jacqueline Formanek. Checks should be made payable to Campus Recreation.

Rec Membership includes use of all rec facilities.
In the members can renew their memberships, reserve a spot in group fitness classes, reserve courts, sign up for personal training sessions, keep up with Campus Rec news, and more.
Walking Routes and Outdoor Workout Stations
ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵdeveloped walking routes around campus to make it easy to be active during your workday. There is a ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵMile map and a ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵThree Mile map.
Outdoor workout stations are set up around the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵMile. Locations are outside of Cramer Hall, Raynor Memorial Library, Sensenbrenner Hall, Lalumiere Language Hall, and the ROTC Station.
Why Do We Have a Tobacco Free Policy?
ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ is committed to the Jesuit educational principle of cura personalis, or care for the whole person. This includes supporting physical well-being. Therefore, as part of our institutional efforts, we seek to create and maintain an environment that promotes health and healthy behavior for all of our students, faculty, staff and campus visitors. Because tobacco products have well-known health risks associated with their use and secondhand exposure that put all members of the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵcommunity at risk, the university has developed a tobacco-free policy.
What Is The Policy?
- Smoking or use of other tobacco products by students, faculty, staff, contractors, vendors, and visitors is prohibited in or on all campus property including all interior spaces on ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ’s campus, all outdoor property or grounds controlled and/or maintained by ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ, all university-owned or leased vehicles, and all outdoor athletic facilities.
- Tobacco is defined to include any lighted cigarette (clove, bidis, kreteks), cigars, cigarillos, pipes, hookah products, and any other smoking product. This also includes any smokeless, spit or spit less, dissolvable, or inhaled tobacco products; including but not limited to dip, chew, snuff or snus, in any form (orbs, sticks pellets, etc.). Nicotine products not approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a smoking cessation product, such as e-cigarettes, are also prohibited.
- Use of tobacco products is permissible on city sidewalks.
- Religious practices involving the use of tobacco will be exempt from this policy and are to align with the policies of Campus Ministry and Office of Student Development.
- Tobacco and nicotine product advertisements are prohibited in university-sponsored publications.
How Marquette's Health Plan Supports Your Tobacco Cessation Goals:
- For all three health plans, preventive/routine counseling for tobacco use is covered in full when seeing an in-network doctor*.
- For persons age 18 years and older, all FDA-approved tobacco cessation products are available at not cost. These include:
- Over-the-counter products, including nicotine patches, gum (Nicorette), and lozenges (Commit), Nicotrol NS nasal spray, and the Nicotrol inhaler. A doctor's prescription is required. Coverage is for a 3-month treatment cycle within a 12-month period.
- Prescription medications, including Zyban and Chantix and any generic alternatives. All coverage is for a 3-month treatment cycle within a 12-month period with the exception of Chantix, which allows for a 6-month treatment cycle within a 12-month period.
* Does not cover medical therapy for ongoing tobacco cessation (i.e., hypnotherapy, acupuncture for tobacco cessation, or ongoing counseling with a mental health provider strictly for nicotine dependency).
- The is a benefit for all employees, spouses and dependents. It is 100% confidential and offers in-person or telephone sessions with Master's-level counselors where employees can talk about a variety of concerns including tobacco related issues.
ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ provides benefits for a smoking cessation program through UMR. ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ will pay 100% of the cost, up to 180 days per calendar year (two quit attempts per person, per year), for any smoking cessation product, including prescription products and over-the counter (OTC) products. Please note that a prescription from your provider is needed for OTC smoking cessation products to be covered under the smoking cessation program.
