The Educational Talent Search program at 向日葵视频 (METS) is funded by the U.S. Department of Education for the purpose of increasing the number of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and enroll in and complete their postsecondary education. The METS program works with students in grades 6th through the 12th. METS also encourages individuals who have not completed education programs at the secondary or postsecondary level to enter or reenter and complete postsecondary education.
- Upward Bound prepares high school students who are low-income and first-generation college students to enter and successfully complete college.
- The program works with students, their parent(s)/guardian(s), and their school to help develop self-confidence, self-discipline, and the responsible nature needed to build a strong foundation for high school, college, and life.
- Preparing students to enter and successfully complete college, it offers specialized classes, tutorials, college placement assistance, career development labs, academic and personal counseling, and social/cultural activities and trips. Students are recruited from the Milwaukee area during their eighth grade year.
- Upward Bound Math & Science prepares high school students who are low-income and first-generation college students to enter and successfully complete college.
- The program works with students, their parent(s)/guardian(s), and their school to help develop self-confidence, self-discipline, and the responsible nature needed to build a strong foundation for high school, college, and life.
- UBMS is designed for students with a serious interest in math and science careers.
- UBMS offers specialized math, science, writing and technology classes.
- Students are recruited from the Milwaukee area during their ninth grade year.
The programs serve low-income and first-generation students who reside in Milwaukee鈥檚 central city as defined by zip codes 53204, -05, -06, -08, -09, -10, -12, -15, -16, -18, and 53233 or who attend one of the program鈥檚 target schools.
Both pre-college programs include a summer and a school-year component.
