Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math & Science

The Upward Bound (UB) and Upward Bound Math & Science (UBMS) programs prepare high school students who are low-income and first-generation college students to enter and successfully complete college. The programs work with students, their parent(s)/guardian(s), and their school to help develop self-confidence, self-discipline, and the responsible nature needed to build a strong foundation for high school, college, and life.

These programs offer specialized classes, tutorials, college placement assistance, career development labs, academic and personal counseling, and social/cultural activities and trips. Students are recruited from the Milwaukee area during their eighth grade year (UB) and ninth grade year (UBMS).

The Upward Bound Math and Science program is designed for students with a serious interest in Math and Science careers.

UBMS offers specialized math, science, writing and technology classes.

The programs serve low-income and first-generation students who reside in the city of Milwaukee or who attend one of the program's target schools. The programs target schools are Riverside University High School, Bradley Tech High School, Washington High School, Marshall, Hamilton High School, and Milwaukee Academy of Science.

Both pre-college programs include a summer and a school-year component
