Take Center Stage
Starting day one, be a part of a busy main-stage production season, as well as film projects and studio productions. You can design and build sets, create costumes, and bring characters to life. You will work with professionals in the classroom and on set to develop your skills from acting, to lighting, scenic and costume design, to technical production, stage and arts management.
Raise the Curtain
Mere blocks from Milwaukee's theatre district, our location allows students to collaborate or intern with professional companies such as the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, the Chamber Theatre, First Stage, Renaissance Theatreworks, Next Act and the Boulevard Ensemble.
Take a Bow
Our graduates are successful. They are working on Broadway, in film, and on TV or pursuing graduate degrees across the country. Recent employers include Dreamworks, 20th Century Fox and the Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Our students have won Academy Awards, Tonys and Emmys.
Learning Outcomes:
At the completion of the Theatre Arts major, the graduate is able to:
- Apply basic knowledge of the processes and practices of Acting, Directing, Playwriting, Production Technology, Stage Management and Scenic, Costume, Lighting and Sound Design to producing theatre productions.
- Demonstrate theatrical collaboration and respect for all the contribution of the production team.
- Analyze the role of theatre throughout history as a cultural force.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills in preparation for their chosen path after graduation for professional success.
