2021 Federal Income Tax Information, Student & Spouse

This is not a downloadable form.

The 2023-2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) was revised to make the form easier to complete and to improve the accuracy of the information provided on the form. For the 2022–23 FAFSA, students (and spouse, as appropriate) will report their tax year 2020 income information.

Student Information

If you are selected for Verification, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ is required to confirm your tax information. Students can use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (IRS DRT) on the FAFSA by selecting Link to IRS to automatically transfer tax information to the FAFSA and to the University. If you are not eligible to use the IRS DRT, you must submit a signed copy of your 2021 Federal IRS Tax Return Transcript (TRT).

Spouse Information

If you are a married student who is selected for Verification, ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ is required to confirm your spouse's tax information. Your spouse can use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (IRS DRT) on the FAFSA by selecting Link to IRS to automatically transfer tax information to the FAFSA and to the University. If your spouse is not eligible to use the IRS DRT, your spouse must submit a signed copy of his/her 2021 Federal IRS Tax Return Transcript (TRT).

NOTE: If you or your spouse did not file a 2020 federal tax return and you receive notice you have been selected for verification, you must obtain documentation from the IRS that you did not file.
