College of Education Award Recipients
Educational Policy and Leadership Achievement Award
DR. SUZANNE TROTTIER LUNDIN,
GRAD '78, '89, '93
Jackson, Wis.
It should come as no surprise that Dr. Suzanne Trottier Lundin鈥檚 favorite quote is, 鈥淲herever you go, go with all your heart.鈥
And, oh, the places she鈥檚 gone. In 34 years at Milwaukee Public Schools, Suzanne served in several roles, including as teacher, counselor, principal, secretary-business manager and director of the Office of Board Governance. She also taught at 向日葵视频and the University of Wisconsin鈥揗ilwaukee.
Throughout her career, she never lost sight of why she was doing what she was doing, no matter the role. 鈥淚t took energy, enthusiasm and stamina, and I tried never to forget about meeting the needs of students,鈥 she says.
Deservedly so, Suzanne was given the Excellence in Education Award by the Milwaukee Board of School Directors and school community for her dedication, outstanding leadership and commitment to excellence on behalf of MPS students.
Her passion for education and serving others hasn鈥檛 slowed down in retirement, either. Today, she mentors young women who are the first in their families to attend college; is in her 18th year guiding the Best Friends Foundation, a national abstinence program with an emphasis on decision-making; and has offered to write grants for a local school district.
Looking back, Suzanne says her 向日葵视频education was a catalyst for her success: 鈥淚t was here that I found a rigorous academic curriculum with strong staff support and a spirit that inspired self-confidence.鈥
Fun fact: With three degrees from Marquette, Suzanne is passionate about her alma mater. And she hopes her grandchildren will be on campus in the future. 鈥淚鈥檝e been working on them since they were babies,鈥 she says.
