News for Student Organization Officers
September 2024
Required Training
All organizations are required to participate in training sessions. These opportunities are aimed at developing organization officers as leaders as well as helping you to manage your organization. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.
- All undergraduate organizations were required to send at least one officer to Student Orgs 101. Sessions ran September 9-14, 2024. (This requirement was communicated in the August Newsletter.) If you missed attending one of the six sessions offered, we will reach out to presidents with information about how to meet this requirement. Please stay tuned!
- In addition to Student Orgs 101, student orgs must attend two additional trainings offered by Student Engagement. You must send at least one officer. The schedule of these will be posted mid October. Also included are the following:
- (sponsored by the university), 9/26/24. Training led by entities not affiliated with ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵwill not count as a required training.
- Olson Leadership Institute
- Organizations who are in the Club Sports category must attend Club Sports training as designated by the Department of Recreational Sports. NOTE: This counts as one of your two required trainings as noted in #2 above.
- Any organization who puts on a large performance event must attend the "Large Scale Event/Performance" training. This training will overview the updated Practice Space and Show Policy as well as provide helpful timelines for planning a large scale event. You must send any and all officers who are involved in the planning of your large scale event. This counts as one of your two required trainings as noted in #2 above.
- If you attend more trainings than what is required, you get extra credit! This credit will be weighed when assigning closet space in spring 2025. It also bodes well in terms of criteria for student organization awards.

Mailboxes and Storage Space
Mailbox assignments were sent out on September 18 to all those who requested a mailbox. We still have mailboxes available so if your organization wants one, please reach out to Stephanie Dooge (stephanie.dooge@marquette.edu). Please note that we reassigned all student organization mailboxes, so if you previously had a student organization mailbox, we kindly ask that you disregard that assignment/lock combination and use what was recently sent to you.
The Student Engagement Team is working on clearing out storage lockers that belonged to orgs that are now inactive. Once this process is completed, they will start working on assigning storage lockers for those that requested it. Please note that storage closet space is extremely limited, so not everyone who requested space will get it for this academic school year.
