Roomers: Fall 2024 Arrival Survival Guide

Welcome to Marquette!

The Residence Life staff and the entire 向日葵视频 community are looking forward to your arrival on campus for the 2024-2025 academic year! This guide will be updated again in early August with additional information.

We are dedicated to helping make your stay in your residence hall a positive part of your experience at Marquette. Below you will find some helpful hints and answers to some frequently asked questions.

When can you move into the halls?

Residence hall move-in will occur on Wednesday, August 21 for incoming first-year and transfer students. Move-in will occur between Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25 for all returning students.

To help reduce wait times during the move-in process, all students will need to sign up for a 90-minute arrival time slot. We have limited the number of students who can arrive at a given time at each hall and no exceptions can be made once a timeslot has filled.

Signups for move-in day timeslots start Tuesday, June 25 at 1pm Central Time (through the Campus Living Portal).

Early drop off

Between Sunday, August 18 and Tuesday, August 20, students can take advantage of our early drop off policy (except Schroeder residents) in order to reduce the crowds of people on move-in day. Students may sign up for a 60 minute time slot to drop of their belongings in their room on Sunday between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m and Monday and Tuesday between 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Schroeder Hall does not offer early drop-off since summer orientation programs are housed here.

Early drop off is intended to be for belongings to be dropped off only鈥攊t is not intended to be for setting up your room, rearranging furniture, lofting, etc. We are not able to accommodate any requests for students to move into their assigned rooms .before halls open on Wednesday, August 21.

Signups for early drop off time slots also start Tuesday, June 25 at 1pm Central Time (through the Campus Living Portal).

Here are some helpful hints for a smooth move-in day:

  • Bring your own dolly/handtruck - Residence Life will have some carts available for check-out on a first come basis, but limited quantities.
  • Wear comfortable shoes/clothing - there may be lines at the elevators so you may want to take the stairs. It also may get hot, so encourage you to dress for the weather and to bring water as well!
  • Arrive on time for your move-in time slot鈥攊f you arrive outside your move-in time slot, you may need to wait for those in the time slot to check in first.
  • Review any information sent from our office or your hall director later this summer with instructions on parking, unloading, etc. So you know the process before you arrive

A twin XL bed, dresser, desk and desk chair, mirror, study lamp, curtains and mattress cover for each resident.

All beds are extra long twin (36鈥漻80鈥).

Your hall also has a laundry facility. Laundry machines accept coins and/or 向日葵视频CASH. Laundry costs $1.50 per load to wash and $1.50 to dry. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, this price changes to $1.25.

Additionally, we ask that you do not use laundry pods in the washers, as these can clog the machines.

MicroFridge Rental Information

The MicroFridge is a one-of-a-kind unit that includes a full refrigerator, freezer and microwave all-in-one! This is a convenient alternative to bringing a refrigerator and microwave from home and is a great option for students attending 向日葵视频from far away or out-of-state.

Can you switch rooms or halls?

Do you need medical insurance?

Full-time undergraduates pay a per-term health fee that entitles them to benefits of 向日葵视频 Medical Clinic. For additional information on health services, visit the Medical Clinic website.

What do you need in case of an emergency? The hospital in the area requires that students have a medical insurance card or a copy of it to present upon admittance. Remember to get one from your parent/guardian and bring it with you in the fall.

Do you need to bring a computer?

Every student living in a 向日葵视频university residence hall is provided a high speed internet connection to the campus network. In addition, all the residence halls have wireless connectivity. Students are not required to have their own computer as 向日葵视频offers many computers for student use which are available in the residence halls and other locations across campus.

To view a list of labs, including available software and hours of operation, please visit the IT Services website.

Students are encouraged to bring a computer to campus and should contact the IT Services TechSquad at (414) 288-7799 with any questions regarding minimum recommendations

Can I ship belongings to campus?

We are asking students to ship any items (including textbooks) to their permanent address and bring those items with them to campus on move-in day. We have limited mailroom space and hours during the early weeks of the semester to accommodate a large influx of packages shipped directly to residence halls.

Residence Halls will not be able to accept packages until move-in day (August 21). We ask that you do not ship any items to the halls before this date, as any items received before this date are rerouted to a central location and may be delayed in getting delivered to the residence halls.
