Historical Note

The NRVC is an organization of vocation ministers for religious congregations, formed in 1988 by the merger of the National Sisters Vocation Conference and the National Conference of Religious Vocation Directors.

The collection contains meeting minutes, publications, and recordings of presentations. (Many videos produced since 2012 are available on the .)

Scope and Content

Series 1, Meetings Files, 1988-2017, contains records of board meetings and convocations, workshops, and other programs offered by the conference. The series is arranged alphabetically by subject and chronologically thereunder.

Series 2, Administrative Subject Files, 1989-2016, contains material relating to the general administration of the organization. The records are arranged alphabetically by subject and chronologically thereunder.

Series 3, Publications, 1988-, includes the NRVC's journal, Horizon, and other publications issued by the conference. It is arranged chronologically by title.

Series 4, Audio/Visual Recordings, 1988-2000, consists of audiocassette and videocassette recordings of Convocation and Study Days presentations.. Included are videocassette recordings of talks by Sr. Thea Bowman (1988); Joe Holland and Virgilio Elizondo (1992); and Sr. Joan Chittister, Sr. Helen Prejean, and Rev. Richard Rohr (1994). The series is arranged by format and then by date.
