NATIONAL SISTERS VOCATION CONFERENCE RECORDS
Historical Note/Scope and Content
Historical Note
Originating as a committee of the Conference of Major Superiors of Women in 1965, the National Sisters Vocation Conference was established as an independent
organization four years later. The NSVC was "dedicated to deepening the understanding of the role of women, especially women religious in the Church,
through service in the vocation apostolate." To this end, it provided a variety of workshops, annual symposia, a bimonthly newsletter, research materials,
and other vocation education resources. It worked closely with the other major vocation organizations--the National Conference of Diocesan Vocation Directors,
the National Conference of Religious Vocation Directors, and Serra International--as a member of the National Catholic Vocation Council. The NSVC merged in 1988
with the NCRVD to form the National Religious Vocation Conference.
The collection contains correspondence, memoranda, minutes of Executive Board meetings, publications, recordings of presentations, reports, and subject files.
Related material is in the records of the National Catholic Vocation Council, the National Conference of Diocesan Vocation Directors, and the National Conference of Religious Vocation Directors in this repository, and in the at the University Archives and Special Collections, Loyola University Chicago.
Gift of the National Sisters Vocation Conference, 1983.
