Students who are selected to be mentors for RISE are called upon to help usher first year, first generation students of color into Marquette. We strive to develop leaders who are committed to their roles because they understand the impact of assisting their peers on the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵcampus. In modeling leadership, they contribute to a broader objective that aims to help students succeed and thrive at Marquette. The mentor position is a paid position.
Expectations of RISE mentors include participating in on-going training and reflection to help them become more aware of themselves as leaders and to support the needs of the students they mentor. Some topics included in training and reflection include the following:
As a high-level leadership position within RISE, we require full commitment to the role of RISE Leader.
Due to the continued effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, all dates and modalities are subject to change. We ask for your grace and flexibility, and we will continue to communicate transparently as we continue to plan.
Training Dates
• Four RISE training dates throughout the spring semester (exact dates will be made available to selected mentors)
• RISE program on August 19-21, 2024 ( Dates subject to change)
• Follow-up monthly mentor trainings (September through November 2024 for the fall semester)
• Monthly check-ins with mentee groups in fall semester 2024
