Honors Values and Outcomes

Our Honors values and outcomes were developed by a collaborative team of students, faculty, and staff in 2019 and 2020, and they serve as the foundation for annual program assessment by students in the beginning, middle, and final stages of the program.  Assessment is our foundation for ongoing program development and improvement, and we strive to make it a valuable pedagogical tool as well.

Honors Values

In Honors, we commit to developing:

  • A community that respects and values the diverse experiences and identities of all humans, and one that takes as its foundation the experiences and perspectives of all its members;
  • A community that invites and supports listening and dialogue among all;
  • Curiosity, open-mindedness, the disposition to put knowledge into action, and a commitment to social justice; and
  • cross-disciplinary breadth as well as intra-disciplinary depth of learning.

Honors Outcomes

Upon graduating from the Honors Program, students will be able to:

  1. Communicate, in ways that reflect both self-awareness and social awareness, how social justice has integrated their entire 向日葵视频experience.
  2. Articulate through reflective writing and speaking how they have enacted the Honors values throughout their entire 向日葵视频experience.
  3. Identify at least one cause or issue to which they would like to contribute positively, develop the skills of humility, empathy, and courage necessary to enact change, and work in a cross-disciplinary fashion to take an action that will contribute to the pursuit of a lasting solution.
  4. Express a strong sense of belonging as 向日葵视频Honors students who actively engage with a cross-disciplinary and inclusive community of learning.
