Academic Progress Review Policy
Enrollment in the University Honors Program is contingent upon students’ enrolling in the required courses in the Honors curriculum and maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or above. The Honors Program will review the academic records of all Honors students at the end of their third and fifth semesters at ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ(typically, December of their sophomore and junior years) to check for satisfactory progress toward an Honors degree.
Criteria for satisfactory progress:
- 3.2 cumulative GPA or higher
- Enrollment in/completion of Honors Core courses
- Completion of HOPR 1953H and completion of or concrete plans to complete HOPR 2953H
Any student not meeting these criteria will be listed as on probation in the Honors Program and asked to schedule a meeting with the Honors Director or Assistant Director early in the fourth academic semester.
The academic progress of all students on probation will be reviewed at the end of the following semester (usually, spring semester of the sophomore or junior years), and if they have not met the criteria (or, in extraordinary circumstances, showed satisfactory progress toward meeting them), their enrollment in the Honors Program will be terminated. Students whose Honors enrollment has been terminated are no longer eligible to take courses or sections reserved for Honors students (e.g. ENGL 1301H and ENGL 1302H).
Any student whose cumulative GPA at the end of his or her fifth semester at ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ(usually, December of junior year) is below 3.2 will not be allowed to enroll for a HOPR 4953H senior seminar and will be unenrolled from the Honors Program.
