The Academic Resource Center has over 80 tutors on staff each semester. Our tutors must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher and must have received an A or B in the course(s) they are tutoring.
All tutors must go through 10 hours of new tutor training, as we are a certified tutoring program through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). There are opportunities beyond the initial 10 hours of training for our tutors to receive even more training with us. Every 10 hours of training a tutor completes results in an awarded level of tutoring. All our tutors are either new tutors, associate tutors, advanced tutors, or master tutors.
Tutors will host on average 4 tutoring groups per week. We work with the tutor鈥檚 schedule to find times that work for them as well as the students.
The Tutor position in our office provides students with leadership skills, public speaking skills, and is an opportunity for students to give back in an academic environment. We accept tutor applications anytime! If you are interested, please fill one out and send it directly to tutoring@marquette.edu
The Academic Resource Center hires students to work as Office Assistants (OA鈥檚) each semester. These students manage the front desk services of the tutoring office, including phone calls and emails. They are also available to the tutors to assist with their daily needs such as managing the tutoring groups and handling tutoring supplies. Our Office Assistants are the face of our office and are here to answer any questions about tutoring!
Office Assistants gain first-hand experience with customer services skills, problem-solving and communicating. We hire for OA鈥檚 each semester, and accept applications at any time. If interested, please fill one out and send directly to tutoring@marquette.edu
