Other Resources in Our Office

Academic Coaching

Academic Services provides one-on-one sessions with a coach to help develop the skills needed to excel in college. Some of the strategies covered in these meetings include: test taking tips, textbook reading strategies, effective study skills, time management/organization, etc. Typically, these sessions meet one time and last about an hour. However, a coach may assess that more sessions are needed and request additional appointments. Learn more about academic coaching or sign up for an appointment.

Private Tutoring

Often, students are looking for one-on-one tutoring assistance. Although we do not oversee any kind of private tutoring, we are always happy to pass the request along to our tutors. Should one of our tutors decide to take on the request, everything from pay rate to meeting times is determined between the tutor and student only (not the tutoring program).  If you have a request for private tutoring, you can email tutoring@marquette.edu with your name, subject needed, and email address. We cannot guarantee that any of our tutors will follow up, but we will certainly make your request known. The typical rate for private tutoring is $15/hour.

Faculty/TA/Professor Hours

It is important to utilize professor and teaching assistant office hours. Freshmen and sophomores often are intimidated by office hours and do not want to bother the professor. We are here to assure you that professors want you to use these hours. Many of our tutors describe this as the best resource to use on campus. You can check your syllabus to determine the office hours of your professor or TA.
