Rev. Aaron Pidel, S.J. (Ph.D. University of Notre Dame, 2017), belongs to the U.S. Central-Southern Province of the Society of Jesus. A scholar of modern and contemporary historical theology, he has published mostly on twentieth-century German theology and the Jesuit theological tradition. Research interests include all periods of ecclesiology, the relationship between nature and grace, and theological hermeneutics. His first book, (UND Press, 2020) examines how Erich Przywara develops the notion of the 鈥渁nalogy of being鈥 into an ecclesiology with Ignatian accents. With the support of the  (Fellow 2020-2021, Ruhr Universit盲t Bochum), he has completed a book-length treatment of Joseph Ratzinger鈥檚 biblical hermeneutics (currently under review). Current research focuses on ecclesiology and Jesuit spirituality prior to the twentieth century.
