Wendy came to ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵafter more than 16 years in UW–Milwaukee’s Social Work department where she taught and oversaw field placements for the school social work licensure program. Prior to making the transition to the academic setting, Wendy worked with children and families involved in the child welfare, juvenile court and mental health system in Illinois, Louisiana and Wisconsin.

Wendy has served as a child advocate and volunteer trainer for the Fond du Lac Conflict Resolution Center serving children and families who are involved in the juvenile court system due to abuse or neglect for more than 16 years.  Wendy also served as a Red Cross volunteer in 2005 assisting persons evacuated to Wisconsin as a result of hurricane Katrina and the breech of the levees. Following the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, Wendy taught a service learning course for seven years in New Orleans, over the Winter break, focused on the recovery effort in the Lower 9th Ward.

Wendy has served in elected office and is active member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).  She is also a board member Wisconsin School Social Work Association (WSSWA) and chairs their Legislative Committee.  Wendy is a community advisory board member of Word of Hope Ministries’ Milwaukee’s Home 2 Stay Project focused on employment opportunities for formerly incarcerated individuals.

Wendy is interested in social justice and equity issues, multiculturalism and diversity, social welfare policy, advocacy and political action.

In 2005 Wendy received the National Association of Social Workers –Wisconsin Chapter (NASW-WI) Distinguished Social Worker Award for her legislative and political advocacy.
