Research Interests
Through interdisciplinary training in cultural anthropology, social work, gerontology, and alternative dispute resolution, Dr. Crampton examines the interplay of policy discourse, professional intervention, and varied perspectives from intended beneficiaries. She studies how people are identified as vulnerable (and in need of intervention) due to young & older ages, and how dispute resolution travels globally as a professionalized intervention. Past research examined elder mediation in Ghana and the U.S. Ongoing projects examine family court mediation in the U.S. and family dispute resolution in Australia. Her newest research works towards decolonizing gerontology through direct research engagement with people in a U.S. retirement community where the average age has risen to 85. The timing of this study coincided with and therefore addresses the Covid-19 pandemic.
