Where Interns Serve: 

cares for nearly 44,000 primarily low-income Latinos (though the community is becoming increasingly diverse) providing critical medical and behavioral health services regardless of a person’s insurance status or ability to pay.   

  

What Interns do: 

Sixteenth Street is working to integrate Social Determinants of Health into the clinical setting by screening adult patients for current needs, identifying helpful resources, and making connections to additional services. The intern will serve as a Patient Screener, working one-on-one with patients and primary care providers in a clinical setting. Interns will screen patients for Social Determinants of Health and provide resources and referrals to address identified needs. 

Interns will also spend time together examining their experience at SSCHC. Through biweekly reflections, Interns will support each other, deepen their understanding of community and social justice, and grow as Contemplatives in Action.

  • Knowledge of health care coordination, resources available in Milwaukee, and social justice

Compensation & Time Commitment: 

12-13 hours per week; Fall and Spring semesters of the 2023-2024 academic year. 
$10/hour
