FACHEX and Tuition Exchange at ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ
FACHEX and Tuition Exchange are undergraduate tuition remission options that allow dependents eligible for tuition benefits at ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵto apply for the same benefits at participating Jesuit (through FACHEX) or other (through Tuition Exchange) host institutions.
Marquette's FACHEX and Tuition Exchange liaison is Yao Andrew in the Office of the Provost. Questions about the programs can be directed to her attention. Anna Wilks-Metrou, Undergraduate Admissions, can assist with questions for students applying to Marquette.
Overview of the FACHEX and Tuition Exchange (TEP) Programs
FACHEX and TEP are undergraduate tuition remission options that allow employees who have a tuition remission benefit for their children at their home institution to apply to receive consideration for the same benefit at participating colleges and universities, should the student meet the hosting institution's requirements for FACHEX and TEP applicants, and there is space available. It is important to realize that FACHEX and TEP awards tend to be extremely limited in number and highly competitive in terms of selectivity. Therefore, there are NO guarantees to the children of any given faculty or staff member that they will be able to utilize the FACHEX or TEP benefit at the institution of their choice.
What is FACHEX?
Established by the Conference of Academic Vice Presidents of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) in 1971, FACHEX is an acronym for Faculty and Staff Children Exchange. Twenty-six Jesuit universities participate in the FACHEX program (Georgetown University is the only U.S. AJCU school not participating).
What is Tuition Exchange?
Tuition Exchange is a reciprocal scholarship opportunity for the child dependents of eligible faculty and staff at all Tuition Exchange member schools. Membership currently includes more than 660 institutions, ranging in size from 250 to 50,000 students and representing 47 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and several other countries.

Eligibility
Eligibility requirements are determined by the home institution. The general principle is, if the home institution grants a tuition remission benefit to the child of a faculty or staff member, then the child is eligible to apply for a possible FACHEX or TEP award at the participating institution(s) of their choice, by being certified as FACHEX/TEP eligible by their home institution. Each institution sets their own rules about how students are selected for a FACHEX/TEP award, and it is the student's responsibility to research what is required and follow any applicable deadlines/policies. Participating schools use academic achievement as one of several determining factors in FACHEX/TEP award selection, and most will only consider incoming first-year applicants. FACHEX/TEP awards are NOT transferrable between participating institutions.
At ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ, an employee must have completed at least five years of continuous full-time regular service to be considered eligible to apply for FACHEX/TEP at other participating institutions. Please refer to UPP UPP 4-09 for dependent tuition benefit eligibility guidelines.

Availability
Each participating institution determines the number of FACHEX/TEP awards it will grant to incoming students each year, as well as the selection procedure at that institution. Generally, these positions are extremely limited in number, hence highly competitive. As stated above, there are no guarantees to the children of any given faculty or staff member that they will be able to utilize the FACHEX/TEP benefit at the institution of their choice. As both FACHEX and TEP are exchange programs, participating institutions are required to maintain a balance of imported and exported students, which results in the number of awards available changing from year to year.
Note:
The home institution is the institution where the eligible family member is employed; students are exported from the home institution.
The host institution is the insitution where the dependent wishes to attend; students are imported to the host institution.
