At Marquette, we don鈥檛 need to read the First Amendment to know that your job is important. We strongly believe that as a member of the news media you are an important link in providing information to the public about a variety of important issues, including higher education. That鈥檚 why Marquette鈥檚 communication team has built positive relationships with local and national reporters, editors and news producers. 向日葵视频has a strong history of sharing the expertise of our world-class faculty and highly trained staff far beyond our campus boundaries. We regularly provide the media with news tips, sources, story ideas and information about upcoming events. Our team is available to help arrange visits to campus, interviews and photo opportunities. We strive to make your interaction with 向日葵视频as efficient, well informed and interesting as possible. But there are a few guidelines to follow that will allow us to serve you better.
News Media on Campus
We want you to come visit us. However, in order to ensure the privacy of our students, faculty, staff and guests, we request that all news media contact a member of the communication team prior to visiting campus. As part of their jobs, 向日葵视频 Police Department officers look for vehicles and people who are not authorized to be on campus. If we know you are coming, we can notify MUPD and also provide you with the most convenient parking to maximize your time. In almost all cases, student/faculty interviews and other taping/photography are possible. Most of the time, no escort is needed. For any event where a news release has been issued, there is no reason to call before coming on campus to cover the event.
Interviews
We want to talk to you. 向日葵视频faculty members are encouraged to respond to requests from the media regarding their research, scholarship and/or professional expertise. However, you may find it helpful to contact the communication team for further background, current or more efficient contact information, and additional experts if your first choice is unavailable. Since our experts directory and media guide is constantly being updated, we may be able to refer you to an expert who might better serve your needs. We can also assist in making arrangements for on-campus interviews.
University Data or Policy
We want you to have the most complete and accurate information. So, if you are looking for university data or information on university policies and/or procedures, you should call the communication team directly.
Campus Emergencies
In the event of an emergency at Marquette, the news media should contact the communication team.
Why do we have these guidelines?
- To provide the most efficient and helpful service to members of the news media.
- To protect the privacy rights of our students, faculty, staff and guests.
- To meet the expectations of students that their residence hall, dining and recreation areas are not available to the public.
- To secure the right of students, faculty, staff and guests to provide or deny prior permission before being filmed or photographed.
- To provide a safe and secure environment in the case of an emergency or crisis.
