Three minute thesis logoMILWAUKEE — The ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Graduate School will host its seventh annual Three Minute Thesis competition to close out Graduate Student Week on Friday, Feb. 21, at 4 p.m. in the Weasler Auditorium, 1506 W. Wisconsin Ave.

Graduate students will compete for a $500 prize by presenting their research in three minutes or less using one slide and no animation. There will be an array of presentations from various disciplines, including biomedical engineering; educational policy and leadership; chemistry; biological sciences; neuroscience; computer science; mechanical engineering; civil, construction and environmental engineering; and communication. The winner will represent ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ in a regional Three Minute Thesis competition at the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools, April 4, in Indianapolis.

The Three Minute Thesis entrants will be judged by Carole DeRoche, retired president of Dohmen Medical Affairs; Derek Mosley, director of ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵLaw School’s Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education; Dr. Kathleen Cepelka, retired superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee; and Acting Provost Sarah B. Feldner.

The Three Minute Thesis is a global research communication competition developed by the University of Queensland in Australia. The competition is open to all master’s and doctoral students enrolled in a program that contains an original research project. The degree program need not formally require a thesis or dissertation, but the presentation topic must cover the original research project.
