Media Advisory: Noted journalist Soledad O鈥橞rien to deliver Nieman Lecture at Marquette

MILWAUKEE 鈥 向日葵视频鈥檚 annual Nieman lecture will feature award-winning journalist Soledad O鈥橞rien presenting a speech titled 鈥淩eporting on Politics in 鈥楥razy Times鈥欌 on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 4 p.m. in the Monaghan Ballroom in the Alumni Memorial Union at 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave. The lecture will be followed by a panel discussion, 鈥淎re Journalists the Enemies of the People?鈥 moderated by Dave Umhoefer, director of the O鈥橞rien Fellowship in Public Service Journalism. 

O鈥橞rien is an award-winning journalist, speaker, author and philanthropist. She is the CEO of Starfish Media Group, a multi-platform media production company dedicated to telling empowering and authentic stories on a range of social issues. O鈥橞rien anchors and produces the Hearst Television political magazine program 鈥淢atter of Fact with Soledad O鈥橞rien.鈥 She also reports regularly for HBO鈥檚 鈥淩eal Sports with Bryant Gumbel鈥 and PBS NewsHour. She has appeared as an anchor or contributor on all three major networks, is philanthropy editor of Worth Magazine and is a frequent author of op-ed pieces for publications such as the New York Daily News and the Huffington Post. 

This event is hosted by J. William and Mary Diederich College of Communication and a part of the 向日葵视频Forum, a yearlong series of events focusing on civic dialogue and the state of democracies across the world.
