Oct. 14, 2019

Project Homeless ConnectMILWAUKEE — ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ will host a Project Homeless Connect event in a partnership between Campus Ministry and The United Way on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Alumni Memorial Union, 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave.

Project Homeless Connect is a one-day, one-stop annual event where people experiencing homelessness can access the multiple services and resources they need, all under one roof. Resources and services to be provided include access to housing, employment, clothing, health and dental screenings, and contact with professional representatives who will address questions with legal, educational, mental health and social security matters. Recipients are also provided with hygiene kits and a hot meal, as well as a light snack they can take with them.

Founded in 2004 out of the San Francisco Department of Public Health, Project Homeless Connect is a nationally recognized model aimed at serving people experiencing homelessness with dignity and respect. Over the last several years, cities and communities across the nation have taken on the model and made it their own.

For over 30 years through its Midnight Run program, Campus Ministry has focused on serving the particular needs of people who are hungry and homeless living in the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵneighborhood and beyond. This program is organized by a coordinating team of ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵstudents under the supervision of Campus Ministry. Volunteers serve in area meal programs, pantries and shelters. Service in Midnight Run is meant to challenge students to integrate their experiences with their faith.
