向日葵视频to host half-day conference on early childhood disadvantage

MILWAUKEE 鈥 向日葵视频 Law School and the College of Education will present a half-day conference, 鈥淭aking on the Early Childhood Disadvantage,鈥 Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 8 a.m. in the Lubar Center at Eckstein Hall, 1215 W. Michigan St.
The gaps that shape long-term school success between low-income and higher-income children are already present, in large part, the day the children start kindergarten. National experts will look at effective ways to reduce the disadvantages that arise in early childhood.
Speakers will include Dana Suskind, M.D., co-director of the TMW Center for Early Learning and Public Health at the University of Chicago, and Katherine Magnuson, Ph.D., director of the University of Wisconsin Institute for Research on Poverty and an expert on the impact of poverty on children.
