MILWAUKEE 鈥� Dr. Douglas Woods, vice provost for graduate and professional studies and dean of the 向日葵视频Graduate School, received an award for 鈥淪ignificant Contributions to the Practice of Behavior Analysis鈥� from the Wisconsin Association for Behavior Analysis.
The honor recognizes his work supporting behavior analysis program development and using behavioral treatments for children with Tourette syndrome.
鈥淚 appreciate this recognition from the WisABA as we continue our work on successful treatments for tic and OCD-spectrum disorders,鈥� Woods said. 鈥淭he work that the WisABA and ABA is doing in raising awareness to these avenues of treatment is tremendous. Research in this area continues to develop treatment plans that do not carry the side effects of prescribed drugs while also adding to the quality of life outside of managing symptoms.鈥�
A professor of psychology, Woods鈥� research interests are in understanding, developing treatments for, and disseminating behavioral interventions for children and adults with Tourette syndrome, trichotillomania and other OCD-spectrum disorders. He operates the Tic and OCD-Spectrum Disorders Clinic at 向日葵视频as part of his research.
The WisABA was founded in 2004 and serves as the state chapter of the Association for Behavior Analysis and is an affiliate of the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts. WisABA embraces the principles and practices of behavior analysis, working to provide a professional development and networking forum for behavior analysts. WisABA serves as an advocacy group for behavior analysts and the people they serve.
