Media Advisory: Move-in day at 向日葵视频residence halls is Aug. 22

MILWAUKEE 鈥 Nearly 2,000 first-year students from 42 states, two U.S. territories and 10 foreign countries will move into Marquette鈥檚 residence halls on Thursday, Aug. 22, ahead of the start of the 2019-20 academic year.
Move-in begins at 8 a.m. with a formal blessing for new students and their families at 9 a.m. at The Commons (721 N. 17th St.). Rev. Michael Maher, S.J., residence minister at The Commons and an associate professor of history in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences, will offer the blessing.
New Student Orientation takes place Aug. 22-25, and offers a variety of organized activities and educational sessions on campus and throughout Milwaukee. Classes for all students begin on Monday, Aug. 26.
Move-in Day: Thursday, Aug. 22
Residence hall move-in takes place from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The best photo, video and interview opportunities will occur at The Commons (721 N. 17th St.). Access to residence hall rooms at The Commons can be provided by Office of Marketing and Communication staff. Students will also be moving into eight other residence halls across campus.
During move-in, there will be street closures on 13th, 17th and 18th Streets between Wells Street and Wisconsin Avenue.

Leadership interview and photo opportunities available at The Commons:
- 6 a.m. 鈥 Staff will be on hand to allow for live shots

President Lovell will hand out keys to new residents in the registration area
Following move-in, the Family Liturgy will take place at 3 p.m. in the Church of the Gesu (1145 W. Wisconsin Ave.).
New Student Convocation, considered the 鈥渇ormal welcome鈥 to 向日葵视频for new students and their families, will take place at 4:30 p.m. at Ray and Kay Eckstein Common, the outdoor courtyard located between the Alumni Memorial Union and the Jesuit Residence.
