Objective- Establish clear expectations for behavior and promote a respectful and environment for all library users.
Raynor Library is dedicated to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for all members of the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ community. As part of the university’s mission, the library fosters the pursuit of truth, the discovery and sharing of knowledge, and personal and professional growth, while promoting a spirit of service to others.
All library users are expected to uphold this mission by adhering to the following Code of Conduct, which ensures a productive, respectful, and safe environment for collaborative and individual study.
Show courtesy and respect to all library users and staff,
Foster an environment free of harassment or discrimination.
Use technology responsibly-use computers, online resources, and other library technology in accordance with the IT Acceptable Use Policy.
Follow staff instructions in emergencies.
Respond promptly to alarms, emergency situations, or security instructions from library staff.
Present Identification when requested.
Provide valid university identification to library staff upon request.
Observe library hours and usage policies.
Comply with posted library hours and designated space usage guidelines.
To maintain a safe and productive environment, the following behaviors are prohibited:
Damaging, misusing, stealing, or deliberately misplacing library resources, equipment, or facilities.
Engaging in disruptive behavior, including excessive noise or inappropriate use of library spaces.
Using offensive, threatening, harassing or abusive language and/or gestures.
Using the library for extended sleeping or as a substitute for housing.
Performing lewd or sexual acts in the library.
Physically or verbally abusing library users or staff.
Using tobacco products, alcohol, e-cigarettes/vaping or illegal drugs in the library
Entering the library without proper attire (shirt, shoes, etc.).
Exhibiting any other behavior deemed inappropriate by library staff.
Consequences for Violations
Library staff reserve the right to take action if the Code of Conduct is violated. Consequences may include:
A verbal or written warning.
Immediate removal from the library with the assistance of MUPD.
Referral to university authorities, including the Dean of Raynor Library or MUPD
Suspension or loss of library privileges.
Raynor Library is a shared space dedicated to academic success and personal growth. By adhering to this Code of Conduct, all users contribute to a positive and respectful environment.
