ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ the Collection

The Children's Book Collection, located on the 3rd floor of Memorial Library overlooking the bridge, spans the range of subjects and reading levels from early readers to young adult books, and numbers about 14,000 books.

History

The collection dates back to the 1980s in Memorial Library. After receiving a significant gift from Barbara Elleman, a librarian, writer, critic, scholar, and editor in the field of children's literature, catalogers began to classify the books, which were distributed to Memorial Library or Science Library as appropriate. Following Raynor's opening in 2003, the remodeling of Memorial Library allowed merging the books into a distinct collection in new space on Memorial's 3rd floor.

Borrowing

All members of the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵcommunity may check out books from the Children's Collection. Books circulate for three weeks and renewals are permitted.
