Latrice Harris-Collins is a dedicated leader and advocate for diversity and inclusion. She is celebrating her 20th year of service, currently serving as the acting director of Black student initiatives at ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ and the vice chair of University Staff Senate.
With a commitment to bridging gaps in education and community, she has played a pivotal role through her work with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in the recruitment and retention of diverse audiences and in fostering an inclusive environment for staff and students, particularly for those of color. Harris-Collins’ leadership and recruitment experience is extensive; she has been actively involved in several recruitment initiatives, including the Educational Opportunity Program, Urban Scholars, and the development of local on-site admissions and community-based organization efforts with Milwaukee-area schools, Marquette’s Upward Bound Program and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. She has also served on the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ President’s Safety Taskforce since 2023, chaired the Black Faculty and Staff Network since 2020, and been an elected member of the University Staff Senate since 2018.
Her contributions extend beyond the university, with significant roles in various organizations, including her involvement with the College Board and the National Association of College Admissions Counseling, where she has been a member since 2004. Recognized for her efforts, Harris-Collins has received numerous accolades, including the University of Wisconsin–Parkside Martin Luther King Diversity Award in 2004, the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Staff Award in 2017 and the Miss Annie C. Singleton Award from Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. in 2024.
Harris-Collins is also a graduate of Leadership Kenosha and was honored as the Kenosha Boys & Girls Club Sports Family of the Year in 2006, highlighting her family's commitment to youth and community development. With a passion for education and advocacy, she continues to make a meaningful impact, working collaboratively with local community partners to address challenges such as access to post-secondary education and financial support, urban development and social equity. Through her work, Harris-Collins inspires others to Be The Difference by striving for positive change and inclusivity through modeling excellence, faith, leadership and service in their communities.
