ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Choral Concert Concealed Language: A Plea for Help
In collaboration with Family Weekend 2024, the Haggerty Museum of Art will present Concealed Language: A Plea for Help, a concert by the ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Chorus. The concert was inspired by the Haggerty’s exhibition SOS Color Code, an indoor and outdoor installation comprised of flags and changing colored lights based on the dots and dashes of Morse code. The installation transforms the international SOS signal of distress into a sign of solidarity and connectedness and asks its viewer to reconsider how language, symbols, and color can help us find stability and safety in an uncertain world. Following similar themes, Concealed Language: A Plea for Help explores the emotive power of choral music and the hidden language within the featured compositions.

A Conversation with the Artists of Luftwerk and Normal Studio
The Haggerty Museum of Art, in partnership with Sculpture Milwaukee, will present a conversation with , the Chicago-based artist team of Petra Bachmaier and Sean Gallero, and collaborator (Renata Graw) on Wednesday, October 9 at 5:00 p.m. at the Haggerty Museum of Art. The artists created SOS Color Code, an outdoor installation currently on view at the Haggerty. Using the universal languages of Morse code and color theory, a series of printed flags transform the international signal of distress (SOS) into a sign of solidarity and connectedness. A companion indoor installation, Color Code, by Bachmaier and Gallero, presents a painted mural with changing color light projections, also in the form of Morse code dots and dashes.
Both installations coincide with the 2024 presidential election and the International Day of Democracy. The International Day of Democracy, celebrated annually on September 15th, was established in 2007 by the UN General Assembly to encourage governments to review, consolidate, and strengthen democracy. The General Election will be held in Wisconsin on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
The lecture is scheduled during National Voter Education Week and is a reminder to plan to register and vote. Learn more about registration deadlines and voting methods for all 50 states at .
