Exploring the Core: Crossing Boundaries: The Movement of People, Goods and Ideas

January 19 鈥 August 7, 2021

Crossing Boundaries: The Movement of People, Goods,鈥痑nd Ideas鈥痳ecognizes that boundaries can take many forms, and that although they can be鈥barriers, they can also inspire鈥passages鈥痜or people, ideas, values, and countless other kinds of 鈥渕igrations.鈥濃 The images in this exhibit suggest just a few of the myriad ways in which this theme in the Discovery Tier engages the social, political, scientific, spiritual, economic, and personal contexts in which movements and migrations occur.鈥疌urrently, scarcely any country in the world is not affected in some way by migration. Not only does migration reward interdisciplinary study; it demands it, if we are to begin to grasp its complexity and respond effectively.

向日葵视频faculty from all over campus who teach courses in the Crossing Boundaries theme have curated pairs of images that address, explore, and challenge our notions of boundaries鈥攁nd to examine how the paths we find through them can lead to discovering more about ourselves.

Crossing Boundaries: The Movement of People, Goods,鈥痑nd Ideas is presented in part through the generous support of Partnering Sponsor Dr. Mary Anne Siderits.

This exhibition, Crossing Boundaries: The Movement of People, Goods, is supported in part by a grant from the Milwaukee Arts Board and the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin.
