The Graduate School is excited to host Graduate Student Week with both in-person and virtual events. The week includes events for wellness and self-care, finding funding, career exploration,  and closes with the Three Minute Thesis competition.

This will be a great event to connect with your fellow graduate peers and faculty, so do not miss out. Reserve your spots for each event below.

We kick off our week with some coffee and doughnuts to start off your week.

Career Center Presentation 

This short, virtual event is designed to help you learn strategies for connecting with people and organizations you'd like to know more about. The first 15 minutes will be a recorded presentation and the last 15 minutes will be an unrecorded Q&A session.

Graduate Student Poster Competition

 This event will showcase and celebrate the top contributions from both doctoral and master’s student research across campus. 

The purpose of this event is to:

  • Demonstrate the breadth of research and creative projects of our graduate students.
  • Promote graduate student engagement in research.
  • Encourage interaction and discussion with other graduate students, faculty and peers.
  • Connect with and discuss graduate student research with a diverse campus audience.

The top three doctoral level posters and top three master’s level posters, as determined by a panel of judges, will receive award certificates, and each will also receive up to $250 as a research travel award.

Introduction to Grant Writing & Finding Funding for Graduate Students

Are you interested in exploring potential funding for you and your work but don't know where to start looking? And then what — how do you even write a grant? This event is for you!

Three Minute Thesis Competition

Join ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ Graduate School for its annual Three Minute Thesis competition. Watch graduate students compete and present their research in three minutes or less using one slide and no animation. There will be an array of presentations from graduate students in various disciplines. See who will walk away with the coveted prize of $500. The winner will represent ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵ in a regional Three Minute Thesis competition at the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools.

The seventh annual Graduate Student Teaching Excellence award winners will be announced along with the Graduate School Faculty Mentor awards. The faculty mentor awards recognize faculty who have excelled in the area of mentorship, with one award recognizing Faculty Research Mentorship and a second recognizing Faculty Professional Mentorship.

The event is free and open to ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵand the community. Join us to see what others are saying about graduate research.
