Clinical and Support Services

The Counseling Center offers a variety of clinical services including mental health counseling, crisis services, and limited psychiatry services. Please call (414) 288-7172 during business hours to schedule a phone consultation with one of our trained mental health professionals. During this 15-20 minute consultation, you will discuss your eligibility, treatment needs, and plan.

Individual Counseling

Individual counseling involves meeting one-on-one with a mental health professional to address a wide range of issues, including loneliness, anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, relationship problems, eating concerns, traumatic events, alcohol or other drug use, and academic challenges. Individual counseling services are provided in a brief and goal-focused format. This means that you and your provider will work on a short-term basis to address one or two specific goals. For those who may need more specialized care or ongoing therapy support, you will work with your provider to explore and connect to resources that will better meet your mental health needs. This may involve referral to workshop, group or community provider. If you are currently in mental health treatment and are able to continue working with your existing provider, it is recommended that you do so.

Group Counseling

Group counseling is an opportunity to improve your mental health by sharing your experiences with others, learning different perspectives, and trying out new behaviors in a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment. Through group engagement, students can develop new insights and skills to work through their challenges and improve their quality of life. Our groups typically meet weekly across the semester and address many issues including self-esteem, relationships, depression, anxiety, stress and skill building. Call the Counseling Center at (414) 288-7172 to learn more about our current group offerings.
