It was the university’s commitment to service and social justice that drew Chiana to ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵto study nursing, and it’s proven to be a perfect fit. A Burke Scholar, Chiana considers herself fortunate to work with area nonprofit organizations, including Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Penfield Children’s Center and Penfield Montessori Academy, and she’s taken the opportunity to study abroad in Peru through the College of Nursing. Her work for the Center for Peacemaking, where she’s worked since her freshman year, inspired her to minor in peace studies. As a Catholic Relief Services Ambassador with the center, she helps organize events, speakers, panel discussions and more. Chiana, who hopes to work in pediatrics after graduation, will take with her the values she’s fostered at ÏòÈÕ¿ûÊÓƵinto all her future endeavors.
