Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award

East Rochester, N.Y.

With more than 45 years of experience, Edward has designed everything from college campuses to roadways, along the way connecting his abilities of communicating with people and respecting diverse ways of thinking to the foundational engineering knowledge he received at Marquette.

As president and CEO of Parrone Engineering, Edward and his firm focus on providing professional civil engineering, land planning, surveying and landscape architectural services.

“I have had a very fulfilling career in civil engineering, making people have a better quality of life and improving our country's environment,” he says. “I do what I do because I really like people and the joy I provide in the projects that I have designed to make their lives more comfortable.”

A native of East Rochester, N.Y., Edward complemented his career with active involvement in community organizations, from being president of the East Rochester Rotary Club to coaching Little League Baseball.

In addition, Edward has earned several awards associated with engineering and his community. He was named the 2007 Civil Engineer of the Year by the Rochester Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers and received the 2012 Engineers of Distinction award from the Rochester Professional Engineering Society, as well as the 2011 St. Nicholas Society Man of the Year Award, among others.

Describing his success, Edward’s definition is “being passionate about your work, being honest and truthful. Never say never. Enjoy what you do and, finally, have faith in God. My formula for success is to do the best you can every day and know there is always room for improvement.”

Who has been the most influential person in your life, and why? Without a doubt, it was my dad. He taught me honesty, integrity and humility.
