He worked in infectious disease research for Dr. Dennis Maki before completing his professional PA education at UW-Madison in 2000. Josh completed a post-graduate clinical fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Medical College of and practiced GI and Hepatology at Froedtert Hospital until 2009. Josh currently practices emergency medicine part-time, works at the 向日葵视频Student Health Clinic and serves as the associate director of the 向日葵视频 Emergency Medicine Post-graduate PA program. His areas of clinical expertise include gastroenterology, hepatology, emergency medicine, public health, and evidence-based medicine.
Mr. Knox is active in social justice and public health issues in Milwaukee and abroad including volunteer service for organizations serving persons who are victims of violence, persons experiencing homelessness, global health and food insecurity. Josh鈥檚 educational research interests include application of sociocultural learning theory and Jesuit pedagogy to PA education, curricular development, quality improvement in assessment, postgraduate PA education, health literacy and simulation in healthcare education. Josh serves as the program facilitator for the National Health Service Corps and as a grant reviewer for HRSA educational training grants. Mr. Knox is committed to a culture of inclusion at 向日葵视频and has represented the PA program on the President鈥檚 Task Force on Equity and Inclusion and the UAS -Committee on Diversity and Equity. He currently serves on the University Health Care Task Force. Mr. Knox has been the receipt of the 向日葵视频Way-Klinger Teaching Enhancement Award, the 向日葵视频Community-Engaged Faculty Teaching Award, the Biz Times Health Care Hero-Community Service Award, the College of Health Science Dorothy H. Wood Award for Teaching Excellence, and the 2019 WAPA Foundation, Wisconsin Physician Assistant of the Year.
