Umut Acar will give the talk, "Turkey's Enterprising and Humanitarian Foreign Policy" on May 2 at noon in AMU's Henke Lounge.

Umut Acar has served as the Consul General in Chicago since 2015. Previously, Mr. Acar served as MFA, Chief of Staff. He joined the Turkish Foreign Ministry in 1998 and has held positions with the Turkish Permanent Mission to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France, the Turkish Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany, and the Turkish Embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria. Mr. Acar graduated from Gazi University, International Relations Department in Ankara.

Ramadan is a time meant to be spent with family and friends, so let us come together with some great food and break our fasts and pray together! The Iftar will be in the AMU in room 157 at 7:45 pm! On April 24, 向日葵视频 hosted a delegation from Guangdong University of Finance and Economics (GDUFE) to discuss future collaboration and signed an MOU.

A recent NPR story featured the rector of Marquette's partner institution, Universidad Centroamericana, in Managua, Nicaragua. Rector Father Jose Alberto "Chepe" Idiaquez has been involved in peace negotiations mediated by the Catholic Church between protestors and the Nicaraguan government. His niece, Raquel Idiaquez, has also not been able to return to her home country.

As faculty and staff prepare for 向日葵视频sponsored international travel this summer, please remember that under current university rule, any 向日葵视频sponsored international travel must follow the procedural guidelines outlined in University Policy and Procedures (UPP) 1-18 and register with OIE. Sponsored travel includes credit-bearing study abroad programs in addition to conference travel, funded research projects, site visits and service trips. Full details can be found on Marquette's Office of International Education website. The required MU Faculty and Staff Travel Registration is online and asks for travel itinerary, accommodation information, passport details and contact information for the duration of the overseas stay. Upon submission, an email notification will be sent to the appropriate Dean or Vice-President seeking final approval.

Hackster is hosting the 2019 US based semi-final China-US Young Maker Competition! Do you have an idea that would make a more sustainable, efficient and interconnected tomorrow? Hackster is calling upon innovative US and China makers to submit project ideas focusing on community development, education, environmental protection, health & fitness, energy, transportation or other areas of sustainable development. The top ten projects selected will be invited to fly to Beijing, China as semi-finalists for the final competition, organized by the China Ministry of Education, held July 22-26th, 2019. The all-expenses-paid trip is applicable to the individual contributor or up to five members of a team. Final prizes are no joke either. You can win up to $15,000 for first place, $7,500 for second, or $5,000 for third along with international bragging rights!
