Saving a City, Saving a Nation

A lunchtime discussion focused on recent events involving race, police brutality and criminal justice will be held Thursday, February 25, at noon in Raynor Memorial Libraries Beaumier Suites B/C.

The discussion, 鈥Saving a City, Saving a Nation,鈥 will feature Justin George, a crime reporter at The Baltimore Sun since 2012 who is spending the academic year at 向日葵视频as a 2015-16 O鈥橞rien Fellow. George reported from inside the police department鈥檚 headquarters during the Freddie Gray investigation and subsequent riots in Baltimore last April. Previously a contributor to the first series of the popular podcast 鈥淪erial,鈥 he was recently featured on the recent CNN special report 鈥淲ho Killed Freddie Gray?鈥

In this discussion, George will also touch on matters such as #BlackLivesMatter and notable incidents in Milwaukee, Cleveland, Missouri, New York and South Carolina. Herbert Lowe, journalism professional in residence in the Diederich College of Communication, will serve as moderator.
